A New Year…A New Website

Whew! What a learning curve!

When I started blogging, I didn’t even know what a blog was. When I asked other bloggers, they said the easiest and most user-friendly way to get started was to post on Weebly. I agree…it was easy to learn how to post a blog, buy a domain name, etc.

The next step was to learn how to use Mail Chimp to start an email list for readers to sign up to receive blog posts and newsletters in their in boxes. When I started, I didn’t know what an RSS feed was…another learning curve.

As I get closer to finishing the first draft of my book, Tragedy’s Treasures, I am learning how much more WordPress has to offer to support my blogging, market my book, and look professional doing it.

My Weebly website will go away February 1st, but I have it to thank for connecting me with Laura Cole Gonzalez. Laura is a transformational author and speaker who chose me to win a one-on-one personal coaching session because of that website, and that session has changed my life. It empowered me to use visual tools to define my wishes and goals. I took advantage of her 30 Day Author Challenge course and practiced implementing her tools to keep me focused.  I then took her six-month Author Solutions course. I look forward to finishing it to help me prepare for the publishing and marketing process. She lives in New Jersey, and I live in Colorado. But that has not stopped us from “meeting” by phone and computer. She has helped me to stay on track with my author goals and to create this new website. I have helped her by “coaching” her in the writing and editing of her upcoming book, Healthy Business, Healthy You Tool Box.

She is the reason I began using Young Living Essential Oils. She trusts the quality of their oils, and has personal experience with the difference they make in her health and well-being. Her book describes her journey towards health and the myriad of health challenges she has faced and overcome. I am excited to be learning about the mind and body benefits of diffusing the oils, using them topically, and even adding them to my water. Not all oils are created equal. Click on the Young Living Essential Oils link to find out what makes these so special.

In the middle of blogging, editing, becoming a Young Living Essential Oils customer and distributor, finishing the epilogue of Tragedy’s Treasures, and editing/improving the twelve chapters I have finished, I am now teaching every day as a long-term substitute. I taught fifth grade in the fall, and will start on January 20 teaching second grade in another elementary school in Montrose.

Thank you for following me on this author journey. I will be adding to the pages of this site, and I would love your input and feedback. If there are topics you want to hear more about, please leave me a comment!

I love Charlotte Bronte’s quote, and I pray I can follow her advice:

Avoid worry by not “looking forward”

Avoid negativity by not “looking backward”

Stay motivated, inspired, and energized by “looking upward”

These verses were special to my late friend, Lisa McDaniel, who recently died of breast cancer.  What a beautiful reminder of what is important!

Psalm 139: 7-10

Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.

Have a blessed week!
